Class of 1977 – Girls Basketball Team Special Recognition Ceremony

MARK YOUR CALENDARS……The Fremont Girl’s Basketball Program is hosting a special recognition ceremony to honor the coaches, players and support staff from the 1977 Girls Basketball Team on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 6:30 pm center court at the Fremont High School. 

The 1977 team is the only team in Fremont Girls Basketball history to go undefeated in the regular season (18-0) and to have the most wins in a season (23-1). 

The ceremony will take place after the basketball game against Tri-County which starts at 5:30 pm. 

Come support the "red headed" flash, Coach St Peter!  Coach St Peter was a distinguished member of the 1977 team and that season she broke the "most points in a single game" record with 30 points, "most points in a single season" with 370 points and held the most career points with 770 points.

On behalf of the Fremont Girls Basketball Program, we would like to invite Fremont alumni, community members, friends and family to a special recognition ceremony to honor the coaches, players and support staff from the 1977 Girls Basketball Team on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 6:30 pm center court at the Fremont High School. A reception for honorees, friends and family will follow immediately in the Multipurpose Room.

Fremont is known for their strong girls basketball program and we will acknowledge that long standing tradition by celebrating the success of the 1977 team. The 1977 team is the only team in Fremont girls basketball history to win 23 games in a row before losing in the Class B Quarterfinal Basketball Tournament.

The girls varsity basketball game against Tri-County starts at 5:30 pm. We sincerely hope you can join us for the game and celebration that follows.

A total of 12 members of the Fremont High School Class of 1941, along with their
spouses, met in the banquet room of One East Main for their 67th Class Reunion on
Monday, Aug. 18 for a luncheon and reminiscing. Participants included (left to right)

Splitstone; in back, Don DeKuiper, Clariss VanDoornick, Eylene James, Norma Breuker,

Class of ‘73 holds 35th year reunion

Fremont High School’s Class of 1973 held its 35th class reunion on Aug. 23. Events included a tour of the high school, a cruise on the Port City Princess out of Muskegon, a gathering at Captain Jack’s on the beach at Pere Marquette Park, and canoeing the next day.

70 classmates attend reunion of Class of 1958

The Fremont High School Class of 1958 held its 50th anniversary class reunion at the Banquet Room of One East Main in downtown Fremont on July 12.

A total of 126 attended, including 70 classmates, 47 spouses and five guests. Retired teachers Eldon Durkee and Duane VanDuzen and their wives also attended.

Classmates came from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia and Michigan.

The memorial table attracted nostalgic attention for the 15 red carnations for the men and nine white carnations for the women who have died since graduation in 1958. The table also included yellow roses for teachers Robert Kraai and John DeJong, who died since the 45th reunion in 2003. Continue Reading…
