Class of 2005 – Caryn Nicole Homsher

Local student honored at Kettering Caryn Nicole Homsher, daughter of Carl and Laurene Homsher of Fremont, received the Kettering University President’s Medal of Honor, the university’s highest award, at a special breakfast on Saturday, June 12 before KU’s commencement. The President’s Medal honors graduates who earn outstanding scholastic achievement; demonstrate professionalism on the job in their respective co-op employment; and share significant community service on and off campus. Four President’s Medals were awarded to the graduating class of 300 and Homsher was the only female earning the honor. Jared W. Reed, a 1998 Fremont High School graduate, graduated in December from Western Illinois University, receiving a Master of Arts degree in Geography (with an emphasis on planning). Reed earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2005, with majors in Geography and Political Science and a minor in Psychology. As the Development Services Coordinator for the City of West Burlington, Iowa, he is responsible for building, zoning, and municipal code inspection and enforcement.
